Since its inception, the School has been committed to disseminating scientific knowledge and fostering analytical thinking among learners, particularly those who seek quality education through the open and distance learning (ODL) mode. Established with the objective of extending opportunities to learners who are unable to access conventional systems, the School of Sciences has consistently strived to maintain academic rigor while ensuring flexibility and inclusivity. The School offers a diverse range of programmes (UG, PG and Ph.D.) across disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Environmental Science, Zoology, Botany and Computer Science, integrating both theoretical foundations and practical applications.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, science education plays a crucial role in addressing global challenges related to sustainability, environment, health, and technology. Our endeavour is not only to impart subject knowledge but also to nurture scientific temper, innovation, and problem-solving skills among our learners. Through well-designed self-learning materials, practical sessions at Learner Support Centres, field-based activities, and continuous academic support, we aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

The School actively promotes research, interdisciplinary learning, and academic engagement through seminars, workshops, and collaborative initiatives. These platforms enable learners and faculty members to engage with emerging scientific developments and contribute meaningfully to society.

We recognize that delivering science education through distance mode presents unique challenges, especially in the context of laboratory-based learning. However, with the support of dedicated faculty, well-equipped study centres, and the integration of digital technologies, we continue to ensure that quality remains uncompromised.
